I visited Dove Lake two weeks ago and was captivated by its origins. At sunset, while sitting by the lake, I felt the profound beauty and tranquillity of this ancient landscape. Cradle Mountain's rugged peaks and valleys, sculpted by tectonic forces 170 million years ago, create a dramatic backdrop for the serene lake. Dove Lake, a remnant of the last Ice Age, was carved by glaciers 20,000 years ago. As the glaciers melted, the basin filled with crystal-clear water, forming a picturesque lake that mirrors the sky and mountain. Each moment connected me to the earth's geological past, making it a uniquely breathtaking experience.
