Oil on Wood Panel
40 x 40 cm
Seeing the world through rose coloured glasses may at times seem foolhardy or unrealistic, however, it can also be seen as an attitude of optimism, seeking the good in situations and making the best of current conditions. Rose Glasses is part of The Weather Channel series a reflection of looking into the distance for favourable conditions.
Bursting with colour, from the tattoo-inspired motifs to the vibrant sky and the back-lit reflection on the hands. Painted on a wood panel, the smooth surface facilitates glazing in oils, enabling the gradual buildup of depth, form, and seamless blending.
I am motivated by colour and nostalgia; a love of fabrics and design which can be seen in the use of tattoos, the cheongsam, flowers and attention to styling. Using elements to evoke a memory or response from the strong frontal pose, the vibrancy and unique concept attract attention.
I am a proficient oil painter, adept in the use of colour harmonies and composition to evoke stillness and thoughtfulness, I often use costume and handmade props to compose my ideas.
