Every artwork I create is driven by colour, and inspired by the golden moments of nature. This piece titled ‘Heading Out’ is an aspirational piece about those who seek adventure in the unknown.
The title is reflective of life's journeys, but also of my own painting practice. A lot of my artwork titles serve as descriptives of my personal adventures and experiments in colour and paint.
Over the past decade I have worked tirelessly in developing a style I call “Fragmatism”, which comprises of deconstructed shape and reconstructed colour. I am fascinated with the history and composition of pigments and the optics of colour. I have chased colour around the world on a quest for deeper understanding. It has taken me to many locations including art residencies in Venice, France and the American East Coast.
Creating colours that glow is my obsession. Building up these hues through fine layers of pigments has led me down an exhilarating path. Fragmenting shapes and perspectives has allowed my work to focus on the immersive sensations of ‘place’ rather than just a surface representation.
Through my art I want to show others the positive power of colour. That all of us deserve to experience a vibrant and exciting view, and to see that the world is a magical place to be.
