Embracing the colours, textures and overflowing creativeness that occurs when I allow myself to freely paint .
I am very much finding my colour choice is of an intuitive nature at the present time. I am painting how I feel, with no pressure and following the flow in each artwork.
Colours, layer direction and compositions changed as the layers were added. I try to make a definite contrast between the sky and ground of the landscape as ‘Abundance’ has but other than that it is free flowing with short and long movements with my palette knife.
My main tool is the palette knife and thick acrylic paints. When creating ‘Abundance’ I was able to build lush fields and hills with the thick paint. The sweeping strokes of the knife allow me to use my favourite technique for the sky and clouds.
When creating ‘Abundance’ there was no reference and I allowed the landscape and clouds to develop with each layer. The colours of the landscape are bold and bright, counteracting the almost fairy floss coloured sky.
