Julie Sydenham
South Coast based artist Julie Sydenham works from her studio in Milton, NSW.
Her paintings reflect her enjoyment of the natural world, and the human connection to nature.
“As I journey through each painting, I often channel traditional feminine practices such as stitching and weaving. Each stroke is informed by this connection and becomes a small thread or stitch in the overall fabric of the painting.”
She is an avid painter and drawer and her current series of paintings explores her love of pattern and layers, with a particular emphasis on the play of light on foliage.
“I’m constantly intrigued by the small details in the world around me and I try to achieve this same level of intrigue in my paintings. I like that you keep making discoveries as you take in each piece.”
