Amy Kim

Amy Kim is a contemporary visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Her practice is rooted in a deep curiosity — a desire to explore the unknowns within herself and the world around her. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Amy moved to Melbourne in 2000 to study Fine Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, majoring in painting.

Her artistic journey is driven by a love for human connection, memory, and emotion — often expressed through abstract compositions, bold forms, and poetic symbolism. Through her work, Amy seeks to honour vulnerability, celebrate the unnoticed, and create visual spaces where people can feel seen, remembered, and quietly understood.

Beyond the studio, Amy has worked across a range of creative industries including theatre design, art direction, interior styling, graphic design, and teaching. These multidisciplinary experiences continue to inform her open-minded and intuitive approach to both artmaking and collaboration.

Amy’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and is held in private collections across the world. Whether on canvas or through curatorial projects, her passion lies in using art as a bridge — between people, cultures, and inner worlds.
