Please join us for the opening reception, Saturday 6th January 2024, 6-8pm with live music and artist talk from 7pm
We are delighted to present “Wild Almanac,” the second extraordinary Solo Exhibition by the immensely talented landscape artist, Taz Witkamp. Following the tremendous success of her sold-out first show, Taz Witkamp continues to captivate audiences with her evocative artworks.
Hailing from the stunning South Coast of NSW, Taz Witkamp is a young and emerging Australian artist. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from COFA (UNSW Art and Design) under her belt, she has honed her skills and developed her unique artistic voice.
Taz Witkamp’s artistic journey began at the historic family studio, “Hy-Brasil,” located in Avalon on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Growing up in a family of oil painters, she was surrounded by the rich artistic heritage of three generations, including Nada Herman, Edward Herman, and Sali Herman. From them, Taz absorbed invaluable knowledge and discipline, paving the way for her own chapter in the Hy-Brasil story.
“Wild Almanac pays homage to an art practice guided by the seasons as I follow landscapes around the south-east. Surging seasons creep like tides. Eruptions of flowers signpost the months. Watching the shadows grow and the snow recede, I try to keep tempo in a rhythm shattered by a warming world. “It is the unwritable calendar” – Taz Witkamp
As Taz Witkamp continues to evolve as an artist, she embraces experimentation and pushes boundaries in her studio. Her artistic process is driven by a deep curiosity and a desire to explore new techniques and perspectives.
Taz Witkamp’s artistic prowess was showcased in her previous sell-out exhibition, “Corridors,” held at Gallery Alchemy in February 2023. This upcoming exhibition, “Wild Almanac,” promises to be another remarkable display of her talent and artistic growth.
We invite you to join us at Gallery Alchemy from January 3rd onwards to experience the breathtaking world of “Wild Almanac” and witness the remarkable artistry of Taz Witkamp. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 6th. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty and resilience of the Australian landscape through the art of Taz Witkamp.
